A miracle cure that does not exist, a bombing that did not happen, and himself as Jesus — posted, then deleted. A dated record of what the president has published that was never real.

On August 30, 2026, with the United States and Iran trading fire for the first time in a month, President Trump posted an AI-generated video to Truth Social captioned "Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!!" — and Reuters found no evidence the island had been attacked. It was nowhere near the first time: Snopes now keeps a standing collection of the AI content he and the White House have posted, because there is enough of it to need one.

Here are the facts:

The timeline

May 2025 — the pope. Days after Pope Francis died, he posted an AI image of himself in papal vestments, white cassock and mitre, one finger raised.
September 30, 2025 — a cure that does not exist. He posted a fabricated Fox News segment announcing "med bed" hospitals, a QAnon miracle-cure conspiracy, complete with a synthetic version of his own voice promising every American a "medbed card." It never aired. He deleted it.
October 2025 — bombing the protesters. After millions marched in the No Kings demonstrations, he posted a video of himself wearing a crown, flying a jet marked KING TRUMP and dumping brown sludge on the crowds below, set to "Danger Zone."
April 12, 2026 — Jesus, then deleted. In the middle of a public feud with Pope Leo, he posted an image of himself haloed in white robe and red sash, healing a man in a hospital bed. He took it down after bipartisan backlash and said he had thought it showed him as a doctor.
August 4, 2026 — outranking Patton and MacArthur. He posted himself in a four-star uniform wearing a Medal of Honor-like decoration, flanked by two real generals demoted to make room for him.
August 30, 2026 — a war that was not happening. The Kharg video landed in a live shooting war. That day's actual U.S. strikes hit rocket launchers on Larak Island; Kharg, which handles most of Iran's oil exports, was untouched. An Iranian official called the video laughable.

The pattern

The official explanation is that they are memes. Asked what the president meant by one of these posts, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said he likes to share memes and videos and repost things other people put up.
It is a strategy, not a slip. NBC News found he has embraced AI media to attack opponents and boost his own image, and that most of the posts pass with little notice inside the sheer volume.
Fact-checkers now have to work in both directions. Snopes keeps a second list of things Trump actually posted, because the real posts have become hard to separate from fabricated ones put in his name.
None of it is labeled. Not one of these posts carried a marker saying it was generated. The label, every time, is supplied afterward by a reporter.
The stakes moved. The early ones were vanity. The most recent asserted a military strike, during a war, on the single facility whose destruction would move the price of oil worldwide.
